Employee Background
Shamrock Roofing has a strong founding in the roofing business. Starting from the ground up, Shamrock Roofing has been established by four gentlemen with a long line of hard work and roofing experience. Shamrock Roofing was started by the owner and also the owner of Mitchum’s Demo and Industrial Maintenance, Bill Mitchum and branching out to the Sales Team, William Payne Jr., Ric Glass and Joe Tipton. Below is a brief background of all four gentlemen so you the customer can get to know each of us a little better.
Bill Mitchum – Owner
Bill graduated from Aiken High School in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1977 where he played football all four years. After graduating high school, Bill joined the United States Navy from which he eventually retired 20 years later as an E-6, Petty Officer 1st Class. While in the Navy, Bill served two combat tours overseas including one tour in the Desert Storm Theatre of Operations aboard the USS Puget Sound. Once out of the Navy, Bill worked for GM, Duramax Diesel and Chrysler as a Maintenance Supervisor. In 2003, Bill noticed a great need for a quality demolition company in the Miami Valley. From there, Bill started Mitchum’s Demo and Industrial Maintenance. Currently, Mitchum’s Demo and Industrial Maintenance has a long standing relationship with companies around the Miami Valley such as Wright State University, EPA, Warren County East, Kroger and many other reputable businesses.
William Payne Jr. – Sales and Insurance Specialist
William graduated from Springfield South High School in Springfield, Ohio in 1994. Right after high school William jumped into the roofing business at the age of 18 and has not looked back. William is an expert in all areas of roofing from tear offs, instillation, new roof development, inspection and estimating. William has worked for various roofing companies across the Dayton Region. William has worked with numerous insurance agents across Ohio and knows the insides and outs of helping a local customer obtain a new roof after a storm has destroyed their previous roof. William came to Shamrock Roofing after discussing the opportunity with Bill Mitchum and like the idea of starting a new roofing company in the Miami Valley that is committed to customer service and providing a home owner with the tools to help them obtain a new roof that their insurance agent might not have helped them with, in the past.
Ric Glass – Sales and Marketing Director
Ric graduated from Kenton Ridge High School in Springfield, Ohio in 2000. A four year Varsity Letterman in Soccer and Wrestling, Ric started college at the University of Rio Grande where he played soccer for the Rio Grande Men’s Varsity Soccer Team for 3 years and studied business. In 2003, Ric moved back to Dayton and continued his education at Wright State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business in 2007. Ric is also a member of the Ohio Army National Guard since 2003 and has served in many different deployments including, Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort and most recently spent a year in Iraq in 2008 for Operation Iraqi Freedom, performing convoy security as a gun truck gunner all of the country of Iraq. Ric has held multiple construction companies in the past such as United Industrial Piping in Cincinnati where he was a pipe fitter and also doing roofing and siding for his uncle’s construction company throughout high school and as a summer job while in college.
Joe Tipton – Sales, Estimator and Crew Leader
Joe graduated from Belmont High School in Dayton, Ohio in 1996. During high school Joe was a four year Varsity Letterman in football and baseball. After high school, Joe joined the Local 75 Union where he did commercial roofing for 12 years. In 1999 Joe won the Union Apprenticeship Competition in the Roofing Category. Joe also served as a foreman for four years in the Union. He also holds a Union Journeyman’s card giving him the ability to work on any roof Union or Non-Union. Joe also has a vast background in residential roofing having an enormous knowledge or all areas of residential and commercial roofing. Joe’s primary concern is customer satisfaction and with the standards being held at Shamrock Roofing, Joe’s work ethic, customer satisfaction rating and vast knowledge of any type of roof makes him a perfect fit to lead Shamrock Roofing into a successful future.
